About Me
I have been playing drums for nearly 50 years. I am active in the area symphony and local community band as a percussionist. I teach bodhran lessons for the beginner in both Kerry style as well as single end. I have recorded on a dozen CD’s or more. I have played many shows with local bands, played for stage productions, and played for dance troupes as well as ceilis. I play hand drums as well as many kinds of specialty percussion instruments. I have had a 34+ year career in mechanical engineering which has helped my understanding of some of the principles of these most unique and expressive instruments. I believe there is a lot of “art” in construction of these drums. But I also see basic principles of physics, engineering, and materials science being helpful in producing instruments with consistently high quality sound and visually stunning appearance.
